A clear winter day to open the new year

Happy New Year. It was a good day to start off 2010. Although the sky is overcast now, it was clear and sunny most of the day. The overnight low was 10.9 F and the high this afternoon was 24.1. It's 22 now at 5:00.

The record high for Jan. 1 was 72 degrees way back in 1905, which was before my time and before all this global warming hoax started making the news. The record low was minus-11 in 1974.

We ended 2009 with a high of 35 and a low of 16 Thursday. The record high for Dec. 31 was set in 1951 with 74, once again before the advent of the global warming hoax, and the record low was minus-8 in 1976.

The forecast calls for even cooler weather through the weekend and into next week. Monday's expected low is 5 degrees.

POSTSCRIPT: I just put the dogs out at 6:30 and noticed snow flurries.
